A penny helps a single mother get affordable child care, so she can work to support her family.
A penny helps an uninsured or under-insured family get access to the medical care they need.
A penny helps feed a family.
That penny is provided by Worthy Cause 1B – a .05 percent tax that equals one cent on each $20 purchase. 1B is not a new tax; the Worthy Cause tax has been around for 8 years. Boulder County voters approved the measure – designed to help Boulder County health and human service organizations with capital improvements - in 2000 and voted in 2006 to extend it through the end of this year. Ballot issue 1B simply continues the tax through 2018.
Foothills United Way’s goal is to help create a community that LIVES UNITED by giving, advocating, and volunteering to create better opportunities and living conditions for all who live and work here. Worthy Cause 1B makes it easy to give a little back every time you shop in Boulder County. And the impact you will make is tremendous.
Funds generated by Worthy Cause 1B will allow nonprofits to improve and expand their facilities, allowing them to help more people. Worthy Cause proceeds will support emergency food and clothing banks; medical, dental and mental health clinics; early childhood centers; and other facilities that serve low-income families and individuals, including people with disabilities and elderly adults.
