On Saturday, April 27th, Front Range Community College hosted the fourth bilingual Thrive conference to help low-income Boulder County residents build assets, focusing on money skills, business development, post-secondary education, and social justice. In all, 38 individuals benefitted from resources provided through two workshops, networking, and a resource fair.
Attendees reported that the conference helped increase their knowledge and are likely to make a positive change in their life by putting what they learned into action. Those who attended gained skills, knowledge, and overall enjoyed their experience. In the participants’ own words:
- “I learned great things about the Boulder County community”
- “I am happy with the workshops that I had the opportunity to take today. The classes were excellent.”
Many thanks to the many community partners that planned the one-day event and to the many community educators that provided the workshops and resource fair! A special recognition goes to the following for planning the event: Boulder County Community Action Program, Boulder County Area Agency on Aging, Boulder County Public Health, City of Longmont Community Services, Foothills United Way, Front Range Community College Small Business Development Center of Boulder, and Workforce Boulder County Community Services.
Attendees had time to have lunch with individuals focused on similar goals and were treated to several door prizes for participating for the whole day. Ecológico Albustan, an organic retreat center in Mexico, and Target provided the door prizes.
