CAP Community Services Welcomes New PIE Coordinator, Diana Sanchez
CAP Community Services welcomes new PIE coordinator, Diana Sanchez. Diana has been with Workforce Boulder County as a Program Specialist II since 2014. During that time, she has worked with job seekers who are out of school and have a strong desire to find sustainable employment or work towards their desired career path. Diana received her Bachelor of Arts in Social Science and her Master of Arts in Reading Education from the University of Northern Colorado (UNC). She has extensive professional experience as an educator, career guide, community connector and Cultural Broker. In every capacity of her professional life, Diana has dedicated herself to serving vulnerable populations, specifically our monolingual Spanish speaking community.
Diana’s interested in pursuing the PIE Coordinator position comes from her understanding of the hurdles that people face as they work towards building a pathway out of poverty. Asset building makes prosperity achievable through home ownership, education, and/or business ownership. It is a way that stabilizes families, increases agency, and helps each generation thrive not just survive. In her new role, Diana is looking forward to continuing the work that was started by Nino Gallo, in collaboration with Foothills United Way (now Mile High United Way), seventeen years ago and would like to continue the work of providing opportunities for education, self-sufficiency, and community involvement for disenfranchised and people with low-income.
Diana states, “To be part of a division that provides programing that is respectful of the individual’s autonomy while providing programming opportunities, such as PIE, that not only provides the tools to dismantle the cycle of poverty through asset building but also promotes the possibilities that life has to offer when one decides to believe that they too deserve a piece of the pie.”
